90 Days

There is just something about 90 days. Checks go void if not cashed in 90 days. Warranties expire in 90 days. Some contractual clauses end in 90 days. Is there something special about three month rules? Must be so, much like Val (character on "Single Ladies"), many women have this period in which she won't be intimate with someone she's talking to. Often times you hear the three month or 90 day period talked about a lot. This is a strategy I believe and I think it is used for a variety of reasons. One reason could be to weed out guys a woman may think is a little suspect. Another reason may be that she would like to get to know someone clearly before deciding whether or not she wants to be involved.

There are many scenarios in which this "rule" is implemented. My question tonight is does this help or hurt the getting to know or courting process? Of course you're getting the young man's point of view but I may not have the response you expect. I first off think setting timetables are not good. I think timetables take away from the excitement spontaneity brings. I also think when you put timetables on things it makes everything less organic. Things may subconsciously become solely about making it to that pivotal 90th day. The idea is similar to the "20 date" idea you see in "The 40 Year Old Virgin." The female love interest in that regard was the aggressor and it was the guy who proposed they wait 20 dates. After a while the attention was on how many dates did they have left until they finally had sex.

With all this being said I do think holding off on sex can be a good tool to weed out guys, but under one condition. You cannot place a time limit on how long you are going to make someone wait. What you should do as a woman is keep that in your own head and simply say it'll all go down when you good and ready. Dude might press you out of curiosity but his mind will be at ease and y'all can still get to know each other with a clear mind. One thing I will always promise is if dude really really really really really is into you then he'll play the game and he'll stick around. Other fellas simply don't have the time to waste in their eyes and that's fine. In the end you both will find what you're looking for, at the end of the day it's all about what you want.

How do you all feel about the three month rule?
